Dear Colleague:

Marriage and marital satisfaction are like fire… once whatever is present is consumed, the fire tends to die down and can even self-extinguish. Every couple must sustain that fire through mutual commitment to the relationship, having a servant’s heart, and learning how to grow their love with joy, passion, respect, and honor. This course explores current research and trends on marital stress, satisfaction, and what it takes to keep love alive and vibrant in any marriage.

I am pleased to announce the next course in this series, Coaching for Marital Satisfaction 2.0. This new course includes three, one-hour presentations on DVD with mental health experts, Ted Cunningham and Linda Mintle. Coaching for Marital Satisfaction 2.0 offers helpful and practical insights for ongoing training for those who work with couples, whether they are engaged, newlyweds, or have been married for many years. Presentations are biblically-based, clinically-excellent, theologically-sound, and tailored just for you… the Christian coach.

Three, one-hour presentations include:
CMS 101: Marital Satisfaction: Trends and Principles – Part I

Presented by Ted Cunningham, M.A.C.E.

Enjoying marriage is a choice, not an outcome. Couples don’t stumble their way into fun, but learn to choose and create joyful moments, understanding that the marriage relationship is to be honored. God did not institute marriage to be a grind; He called spouses to be companions through the grind. Ted Cunningham examines and discusses various trends in contemporary marriages, including kid-centered homes, prolonged adolescence, starter marriages, delayed marriages, dating while divorced, and divorce among older couples.

CMS 102: Marital Satisfaction: When a Marriage Gets Stuck – Part II

Presented by Ted Cunningham, M.A.C.E.

When couples stop enjoying life and marriage, they blame one other as the source of their problems, question their compatibility, repeat mistakes and develop patterns, close their hearts, isolate from others, doubt their futures, and explore other options. Ted Cunningham offers easy-to-follow solutions for couples to increase their overall marital satisfaction, be equipped with necessary communication skills, and be able to articulate the details of the Daily Delay, Weekly Withdrawal, and Annual Abandon.

CMS 103: Keeping Love Alive

Presented by Linda Mintle, Ph.D.

Divorce in the second half of marriage is becoming an increasingly common occurrence, even for Christian couples. Dr. Mintle examines potential risk factors related to the Boomer generation, as well as the latest findings in attraction research. Faith-based and counseling strategies for enhancing the marital bond are discussed, including building marital friendship and intimacy, scheduling time together, and managing conflict well in order to create shared meaning.

When you successfully finish this program (more than 200,000 students have enrolled in a Light University course), you will earn a Certificate of Completion.

Continuing Education credits are also available, if needed, for mental health professionals.
